Richmond, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Friends Fellowship Community, where he and his wife had lived since Nov. 19, 1990. He was born Nov. 12, 1909, in Ohio County, to Albert M. and Ida B.

Richardson Ake and moved to Richmond from Cambridge City in 1946 to begin Dr. Loren F. Ake his practice. He was on the General Surgery Service at Reid Memorial Hospital until he retired in 1979. The Aurora (Ind.) high school graduate earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1932 and his medical degree in 1936.

His internship was at Wishard Memorial Hospital followed by four years of general practice in Cambridge City. In 1941, he was drafted into military service and did general surgery for three years in the United States and two years in the Pacific Theater, where he was chief of surgery in a 500-bed hospital in New Guinea, Leyte and Manila in the Philippines. He was a member and former officeholder at Central United Methodist Church, member and past president of the Wayne-Union Medical Society, member of the state and American medical associations, member and vice president of the Reid Memorial Hospital staff, member of Richmond Masonic Lodge 196, Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Whitewater Valley Scottish Rite Club, Tarum Shrine and Forest Hills. He was a former member of Elks Lodge 649. Survivors include one son, Dr.

Robert L. Ake of Norfolk, one daughter, Judith Goldstein of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian W. Welch Ake, in 1999. Service will be at 10 a.m.

Tuesday at Doan Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road Richmond. The Rev. Larry M. Curtis has been asked to officiate. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery.

Curry EATON, Ohio Betty J. Curry, 71, of Eaton, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Richmond, and attended Richmond schools. She retired in 1990 from Baxter Healthcare Corp.

in Eaton and was co-owner and operator of the Parkview Drive-In in Eaton and the Toot Drive-In in New Lebanon. Survivors include two sons, Kip Curry of Mildenhall, England, and Roger D. Curry of Eaton; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Curry, in 1988. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m.

died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Friends Fellowship Community. He was born in Marion on April 26, 1914, to Homer and Grace Williams Cain and had lived in this area since 1934. He had worked for the former Meyers Casket Co. and retired in 1975 from J.M. Hutton Casket Co.

after working there more than 21 years. He was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include one son, James Cain of Connecticut; one daughter, Carol Hatfield of Richmond; two stepsons, Marion Stewart of New York City and David Stewart of Lynn; one sister, Doretha Boots of St. Petersburg, five grandchildren; nine great -grandchildren; four stepgrandsons and two stepgreatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Weirick Cain, in 1968; his second wife, Isabel Stewart Cain, in 1998; one sister and two brothers.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, where visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev.

Nellie Lucille Price Chenoweth, 75, of 3852 S. Indiana 121, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Lincoln Center West, where she had resided for one week. She had been ill for a year. She was born July 19, 1924, in Danville, to Walter and Georgia White Price. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hilltop Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Georgia Steele, Linda Harvey and Patricia Steele, all of Connersville, Barbara Reece of Milton and Juanita Huller of Arlington; one son, James D. Case of Connersville; one brother, Walter Price Jr. of Crescent City, one sister, Juanita Connor of Danville, Ky; 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. Chenoweth, whom she married March 10.

1950, on Oct. 10, 1974; one brother; one sister; and three grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville, with the Rev. Arthur Walters of College Corner and the Rev.

Grooms HOLLANSBURG, Ohio Hol- lansburg native Rhea L. Sinks Grooms, 87, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Frasier Meadows Manor in Boulder, Colo. She was born in Hollansburg on Sept. 19, 1912, to Ernest and Elsie Downing Sinks and graduated from Hollansburg High School in 1930. She earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from Miami University in Oxford in 1938.

She taught at Jefferson Township, Monroe and Greenville high schools as well as Bethel in Miami County, Newton Township School in Pleasant Hill, Troy (Ohio) Junior High School and Emerson Junior High School in Flint, where she was head of the home economics department from 1968- 76. In Richmond, she was a cafeteria supervisor. She also was a member of Eastern Star in New Paris, Ohio. She was named Homemaker of the Year in 1953 by the Dayton Journal Herald and was a member of the Altrurian Club, the Mothers' Study Club and the United Methodist Church in Troy, where she was superintendent of the Junior Department for eight years. She moved to Sun City Center, in 1978, served on the cookbook committee and was a coordinator for the Bridgettes bridge players.

She served as secretary and was on the security committee of her condo association before moving to Colorado in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Geisz of Boulder, and Reva Bolzak of New Hope, four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Percy E. Grooms, in 1971; and a sister, Margaret E. Driver, in 1999.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy followed by a memorial service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Memorials may be made to the National Audubon Society. Evelyn C.

Pierce CAMDEN, Ohio Evelyn C. Pierce, 82, of McGuire Drive, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at her residence. She was born July 28, 1917, in Montgomery County to David and Opal Wogaman Miller. She was a housewife and a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Camden. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James Franklin Pierce: three daughters, Judy Fahrenholz of West Alexandria, Carolyn Keener of Eaton and Debra Gibson of Preble County; a son, Clyde Richard Miller of Dayton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Miller of New Carlisle.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Miller; a sister, Marie Conners; and a great grandson. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home in West Alexandria, with the Rev. Elther Hale asked to officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden.

Earl Roscoe Reeves, 81, formerly of 3301 Ostheimer died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Fayette Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week. He had resided at Caroleton Manor since January 1997. He was born July 14, 1918, in Connersville to Walter and Mary Walters Reeves and had lived in Fayette County all his life. He farmed in Waterloo Township and had worked for the City of Connersville, mostly at Roberts Park. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Bessie Haburcsak of Boswell, and Flora Wise of Yuma, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, John and David Reeves; and two sisters, Carrie and Anna Mae Reeves. Stevenson, 79, of Richmond, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Cherish Nursing Center after a long illness. She was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Muncie to Ralph and Lola Burt Waller and had lived in Richmond most of her life. She attended Earlham College. A homemaker, she was a former member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Westside Neighborly Club.

Survivors include one sister, Gerry W. Stevens of Richmond; one brother, James R. Waller of Cincinnati; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. Wayne County Coroner Paul Patterson said Eliza killed himself, but investigation is continuing. "He definitely took his own life," Patterson said. Witnesses had seen Elza, who lived on North Ninth Street, walking along Sheridan Street and then walking on the bridge sidewalk, Patterson said.

Two people parked below the bridge and a motorist on Sim Hodgin Parkway saw him fall, Patterson said. He landed on the surface of the road. The bridge spans the parkway from North Street to Richmond Avenue. The incident happened at about 11 p.m. Richmond firefighters were called to the scene to aid police.

Local man remains in hospital after accident Bill Wall, 17, is in good condition at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with injuries suffered in an accident at U.S. 27 and Liberty Avenue on Sunday. He was a passenger in a car driven by Brandy Nolte, Richmond, when it collided with a car driven by J.D. Johnson, 71, Richmond. Johnson was released from Reid Hospital earlier this week.

Fire destroys mobile home Investigation is continuing into the cause of a fire that destroyed a mobile home at 4881 U.S. 27 North early this morning. Damages were set at $35,000 for the home of Ron Sherer. There were no injuries. Firefighters were called at 12:40 a.m.
