Living is a 2022 British historical drama film directed by Oliver Hermanus. Its screenplay by Kazuo Ishiguro was adapted from the 1952 Akira Kurosawa film Ikiru. Set in 1953 London, it stars Bill Nighy as a bureaucrat in the public works department who learns he has a fatal illness.

It's the day Mr. Williams has an appointment with his doctor, where he will learn he has inoperable cancer, and only months to live. It hits him like a thunderbolt, although characteristically, he keeps a stoic demeanour.

"Living" is a poignant and touching film that explores themes of grief, mortality, loneliness, and legacy and follows the life of a British bureaucrat named Arthur (played by Bill Nighy), who struggles with his sense of purpose and identity after his wife dies.
