Haruka 2 review (comments on the evil boss(?), seiyuu list and comparison of characters) (1)

Hurray! My Haruka review is all but done! *throws confetti* in the air. The main reason it takes quite some time and a lot of entires is because of the amount of picture I upload.

Akurum: the antagonist of the game (he is the antagonist in the last game too) and he really reminds me of Cifer in love drops, so I thought that he might be romance-able. It turns out that I was right but…

I really want to scream: “Go and die!” to the computer screen at times since I failed his romance all the three times I’ve played the game. As the hidden character his route doesn’t affect the other’s routes, so you just wait for him to talk to you and get his romance by saying the right thing. But I think it’s not because I (my PC) said something wrong, but because I am meant to seal the final monster instead of killing it although I haven’t tested this theory yet.

But the ending CG is really nice especially when he tends to wear a mask 90% of the time in the game, and his hair is usually held up.

But it is quite sad as he tells the PC that no one will give her any blessings if she goes with him, and it seems that they ended up living on an isolated cottage on some mountain.

If you just look at the second game then it seems that he fell in love with the Pc the moment he saw her, which probably pardons him for embracing her the second or third time they met!!! But however, if you look at haruka 1 (the manga as I haven’t played the game) then it seems…come one woman and he falls in love with her, come another woman and he is in love with her… Although the manga might be different.

Most of the time he wears a mask but he would take it off now and then and he is actually really handsome (seduction?). The first time I saw his real face I got quite a shock. The moral of the story? Contrasting to what Ran Shuuei from Saiunkoku said: man depend and rely on their appearance.

A slight comment/comparison on the characters of one and two because I

don’t know three’s characters that well (and because I am lazy).

Inori (1- first game) and Isato (2-second game): Suzaku of Heaven

He is probably pretty similar, quite rash and hot tempered although I feel that Isato is a bit more grown up then Inori, even though they are the same age. In One, Inori is a smith’s apprentice. Appearance wise, Inori’s hair is quite short while Isato’s hair is really long.

Tenma (1) and Katsuzane (2): Seiryuu of Earth

Tenma is actually from the PC’s world, but he is a few years younger then Katsuzane, by being 17, and he does seem more immature. His sister is the black dragon’s priestess too. I don’t really like him as I feel that he is a bit too possessive of the PC, when he wasn’t even her boyfriend or anything. His temper is quite bad as well but I feel that it is more like Isato’s temper instead of Katsuzane’s.

Tomomasa (1) and Hisui (2):

He is the same age as Hisui and they also look quite similar, ever their hair are long and loose almost all the time. The only difference is that his hair is wavy, while Hisui’s hair is very straight. Tomomasa is an official in the imperial court and I feel that he cares a bit more then Hisui, who is more motivated by his self interest. I feel that Tomomasa has a sense of duty and obligation that Hisui lacks (come on, this is the guy who ran off to become a pirate!!!). Like Hisui, Tomomasa constantly flirts with woman (he is the type of guy whom when you ask “Who was that woman with you yesterday?” would reply: “The one in the morning or the one in the evening?” In that matter he is probably worse then Hisui as we don’t really see Hisui with a lot of woman, but in the manga you see Tomomasa with quite a lot of women.

Takamichi (1) and Yukitaka (2)

I seriously don’t believe that Takamichi is only 19- I can accept 29 without any problem. I think his position is not as high as Yukitaka and he seems more of a civil official (ie.not someone who fights), because his weapon is this dagger, while Yukitaka actually uses a katana (and the very heroic first meeting XD). I personally feel that Yukitaka has a stronger sense of authority then Takamichi, who seems much too gentle.

Shimon (1) and Akifumi (2)

Shimon is the PC’s kohai (he is 14) and he really isn’t that much use…he’s also more then a bit gullible. While Akifumi is idealistic, he isn’t that gullible. But the difference between Akifumi and Shimon’s are nothing if you compare Benkei (3) with them. Hahaha, the Suzaku of earth’s hair gets progressively longer in the first three games, Shimon has short hair while Akifumi’s hair is slightly past shoulder length, while Benkei’s hair is almost waist length. Hey, it’s the same with the Seiryuu of earth. Tenma’s hair is really short while Katsuzane’s hair is shoulder length, and Kuro has really long hair. (voice of reason- why are you blabbering about this?!) It’s the very opposite with the Byakko of heaven: past shoulder-length to chin length then to being short.

Yorihisa (1) and Yoritada (2)

They are basically almost identical although Yoritada is older then him by a year. But Yoritda seems a bit more mature, and I think it’s because Yorihisa has…explosive moments. At one point in the manga, he has to pretend to be a bandit in order to help this girl to escape a marriage. He’ll show hesitation at this but when Akane (the priestess in one) ask whether he is willing, he will suddenly yell out: “Since the miko ordered this then I will be a bandit with all my heart and soul”. Like Yoritada, he has a guilt complex although this time it is his fault. His attempt of chasing the enemy resulted in his brother’s death. Yorihisa actually has long hair that he ties up, unlike Yoritada- who has short hair. His personality remains pretty much the same, obeying one’s master and all that. In the manga, his argument with Tenma caused the PC to fall in to a river and she’ll get really worried as she think Yorihisa might commit ritual suicide (seppuku) and Tenma will say that it isn’t impossible…

Yasuaki (1) and Yasutsugu (2)

As previously mentioned, Yasuaki was created by Abe no Seimei as well, but he woke up first. To be honest, I think Yasutsugu is a bit more normal. Yasuaki still have this “I don’t understand human emotion” but other then appearing rather cold, you won’t really be able to tell that he is…not a human. But Yasuaki seems a bit more confused.

Eisen (1) and Motomi (2)

Eisen is seventeen, two years younger then Motomi. Eisen is actually the emperor’s brother and due to being involved in some political struggle against his brother he felt really guilty (even though it was not his fault) and decided to be a monk. His brother is actually really nice to him, telling him to not address him by his title but use “elder brother” instead. He even helps Eisen out with the PC! Like Motomi, Eisen plays the flute and he has an inferiority complex, believing himself to be of no use. But Eisen is drawn so beautifully in one.

Finally the seiyuu list, which I must admit, should have been put up with the entry where I talked about the game on a general basis. But some of the seiyuu was in Tokimeki so for some of them it is just cute and paste. XD

Suzaku of Heaven- Inori (1), Isato (2), Hinoe (3): Takahashi Naozumi: Marui in Prince of Tennis.

Byakko of Heaven- Takamichi (1), Yukitaka (2). Yuzuru (3): Nakahara Shigeru: I haven’t really seen any of the anime he voiced so…

Suzaku of Heaven- Shimon (1), Akifumi (2), Benkei (3): Miyata Koki: Hanatarou in Bleach; Murata Ken in Kyou kara maoh.

Seiryuu of Heaven- Yorihisa (1), Yoritada (2), Masaomi (2): Miki Shin'ichirō: Urahara in bleach; Mikagi in Ayashi no Ceres; Minato Shinichiro in Sukisho; Yoji in Weiss Kreuz; Tsuzuki in Yami no Matsuei.

Genbu of Heaven- Eisen (1), Motomi (2), Atsumori (3): Hoshi Sōichirō: Gakuto in Prince of Tennis; Kira in Gundam seed and Gundam Seed Destiny; Sunao in Sukisho.

Akurum: Okiayu Ryōtarō: Byakuya in Bleach; Dark in D.N.Angel; Shigure in Fruits Basket; Joshua in Marginal Prince; Tezuka in Prince of Tennis; Kai in Sukisho; Brad Crawford in Weiss Kreuz; Hakuryuu in Haruka 3.
